FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a Master Edition NFT?

A Master Edition NFT is a special, limited-edition NFT that grants its owner control over the creation and minting of up to 15 Clone NFTs. In the Critters universe, Master Edition holders enjoy exclusive rights such as setting mint prices, earning royalties from Clone sales and trades, and accessing locked $QUEST tokens.

How many Master Edition NFTs are there?

There are 3,500 Master Edition NFTs total. Master Edition minting has ended forever. The community voted to burn 2.1 billion leftover tokens from the mint, ensuring no additional Master Editions will ever be created. Each Master Edition allows the holder to mint up to 15 Clone NFTs, making the potential total number of NFTs 56,000 (including both Master Editions and Clones).

What's the difference between OG and Standard Master Editions?
  • OG Master Editions (#1-2500): Have access to free multiplier spins if not already claimed during the original mint
  • Standard Master Editions (#2501-3500): Do not have multiplier access, but are eligible for a potential 2.5 SOL refund if certain conditions are met in the future
How do I control Clone minting?

As a Master Edition owner, you don't mint Clone NFTs yourself. Instead, you control the public minting process by deciding how many Clone NFTs to release from your Master Edition, within the limit of 15 per Master Edition. This minting process is handled on a dedicated Clone Mint Page, where other users can mint from your Master Edition.

Can Clones be lost or burned?

Yes, Clone NFTs can be lost or burned during gameplay, which permanently reduces the total supply. If a Clone NFT is burned, its specific edition number is permanently lost. However, you can reopen the mint for that slot, allowing a new Clone to be minted—assuming your Master Edition has more mints available.

What royalties do I earn?

As a Master Edition owner, you automatically receive royalties from Clone NFTs minted from your Master Edition. Additionally, you earn royalties from secondary market sales of Clone NFTs. The base royalty is 50%, which can be boosted up to 75% with multipliers. Each Master Edition has a connected wallet that receives these payments directly.

What happens to burned Clone NFTs?

Once a Clone NFT is burned, the edition number is permanently lost, and a new NFT minted from the same Master Edition will not carry the same number. This makes low-number Clones highly collectible and adds value to early mints. While the overall supply may shrink due to burning, Master Edition holders have the power to reopen their mints to issue new NFTs, as long as their Master Edition still has remaining mints.

Can Master Edition NFTs be burned?

No, Master Edition NFTs cannot be burned or lost. They remain a permanent part of the Critters universe, ensuring that Master Edition holders always have control over Edition mints and remain key players in the NFT ecosystem.

Can I rename my Master Edition NFT?

Yes, you can rename your Master Edition NFT using $QUEST tokens. This renaming feature also changes the names of all the Clone NFTs derived from it. Future owners of the Master Edition can rename it as well.

Can I sell my Master Edition NFT?

Yes, you can sell your Master Edition NFT on secondary markets. When sold, the buyer gains all the rights associated with that Master Edition, including the ability to mint any remaining Clone NFTs, claim royalties from future sales, and access to the locked $QUEST tokens.

What happens if I don’t use all my 15 Clone mints?

If you don't use all of your 15 Clone mints, the remaining mints are tied to your Master Edition. If you decide to sell your Master Edition before using all the mints, the new owner will inherit the remaining mints and can mint the rest of the Clone NFTs.
