FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a Master Edition NFT?

A Master Edition NFT is a special, limited-edition NFT that grants its owner control over the creation and minting of up to 15 Edition NFTs. In the Critters universe, Master Edition holders enjoy exclusive rights such as setting mint prices, renaming the NFTs, and earning royalties from Edition sales and trades.

How many Master Edition NFTs are there?

There will be a maximum of 20,000 Master Edition NFTs available. Each Master Edition allows the holder to mint up to 15 Edition NFTs, making the potential total number of NFTs 320,000 (including both Master and Edition NFTs).

How does minting Edition NFTs work?

As a Master Edition owner, you don't mint Edition NFTs yourself. Instead, you control the public minting process by deciding how many Edition NFTs to release from your Master Edition, within the limit of 15 per Master Edition. This minting process is handled on a dedicated Edition Mint Page, where other users can mint from your Master Edition. The exact number of Edition NFTs in circulation is in your control.

Can Edition NFTs be lost or burned?

Yes, Edition NFTs can be lost or burned during gameplay, which permanently reduces the total supply. If an Edition NFT is burned, its specific edition number is permanently lost. However, there is a feature that allows you to reopen the mint for that Edition, allowing a new one to be minted—assuming your Master Edition has more mints available. This adds a layer of rarity and collectibility, especially for low-number Edition NFTs (e.g., Edition #1).

What happens to burned Edition NFTs?

Once an Edition NFT is burned, the edition number is permanently lost, and a new NFT minted from the same Master Edition will not carry the same number. This makes low-number Editions highly collectible and adds value to early mints. While the overall supply may shrink due to burning, Master Edition holders have the power to reopen their mints to issue new NFTs, as long as their Master Edition still has remaining mints.

Can Master Edition NFTs be burned?

No, Master Edition NFTs cannot be burned or lost. They remain a permanent part of the Critters universe, ensuring that Master Edition holders always have control over Edition mints and remain key players in the NFT ecosystem.

How do royalties work for Master Edition NFTs?

As a Master Edition owner, you automatically receive 50% of the sales from Edition NFTs minted from your Master Edition. Additionally, you earn royalties from secondary market sales of Edition NFTs. This royalty base can be boosted up to 75%, providing greater rewards depending on in-game activity or other factors.

Can I rename my Master Edition NFT?

Yes, you can rename your Master Edition NFT at any time using $QUEST tokens. This renaming feature also changes the names of all the Edition NFTs derived from it. Future owners of the Master Edition can rename it as well, ensuring the NFT stays dynamic.

Can I sell my Master Edition NFT?

Yes, you can sell your Master Edition NFT on secondary markets. When sold, the buyer gains all the rights associated with that Master Edition, including the ability to mint any remaining Edition NFTs and claim royalties from future sales of Edition cards. The ownership transfer includes all benefits tied to the NFT.

What happens if I don’t use all my 15 Edition mints?

If you don't use all of your 15 Edition mints, the remaining mints are tied to your Master Edition. If you decide to sell your Master Edition before using all the mints, the new owner will inherit the remaining mints and can mint the rest of the Edition NFTs.

Why did Critters choose 320,000 NFTs?

The Critters universe is designed for a large-scale player base, similar to games like Hamster Kombat with millions of active users. The collection size of 320k NFTs ensures enough supply to support a large number of players. The burn mechanic allows for Edition NFTs to be lost during gameplay, reducing the overall supply over time and adding scarcity to the ecosystem.
